Bio from Michel Keidel

Iโ€™m a recovering advertising creative getting back to my fine arts roots.
I minored in pottery in college, 45 years ago. Now Iโ€™m a member of Core Clay and I only do MoFish. They are fun and funky and itโ€™s up to the consumer to figure out what to do with them.
I so enjoy making them.

Igor started very young and has received accolades for his work, including admission to art school at very young age. His work was exhibited (and now part of permanent collection) at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. Igor graduated from very prestigious Art College "Muhinskoe" as a ceramic artist. After that he was offered employment as an artist from oldest European porcelain factory โ€œLomonosov Porcelain Factoryโ€. There he learned allot of secrets of this fascinating and intricate material and now he is well known for quality of his work. And now Igor Mintch continues the best traditions of European porcelain sculpting and painting in ceramic.

From 1987 till 2001 Igor worked together with another artist - Irina Ilina. Together they accomplish many government commissions all around Russia and Europe. As artists, couple was financially and critically successful in their St. Petersburg home, but gave it all up to come to the United States and get away from the oppressive conditions under which they worked. Igor always wanted to share the beautiful world of his visions with other people.

In 1993 Igor was offered a status of "Extraordinary Artist Valuable for American Culture" from the Federal Government and settled in the US.

1993-2001 Igor worked as a sculptor for Doc Holliday Molds Inc. in Nicholasville, KY.

In 2001 Igor Mintch founded IMDceramics, company specializing in molds for ceramic and glass industries. He participated in numerous art shows individually and as a part of a group.

Much of his artwork is mixture of classical and contemporary themes, a combination that fascinates the artist.

Sarah Horn Ceramics is the name of my Cincinnati based clay studio where I make work that combines my love for local architecture and surface exploration.

I am a full time high school art teacher, a wife and mother, and an artist. I create my work in the snatches of time I can sneak into my home studio. Lately that time has been spent exploring new methods of printing onto clay.

I am a self-taught recreational potter from Morrow Ohio with a passion for clay!
I have been working with clay since 1980 with a focus on wheel throwing and hand building. During the mid-1990โ€™s I closed my in-home studio to spend time with my husband and 2 boys.
In 2015 I took a few lessons from a local artist and my passion for clay was quickly renewed. My focus is functional ware with some occasional whimsical creations.
I enjoy spending time with my family, our yellow lab Bailey, boating, swimming, and playing golf.

Artist Statement 2023

I feel fortunate to have spent my adult life making pottery. The opportunity to explore forms and glazes has kept me excited and eager to continue working. As a potter, I hope the pottery I make performs well, feels good in the hand, engages the eye, and connects the user to our natural world.

I think Iโ€™ve been most influenced in the making of pottery by my mother and father who were raised on large farms where they grew their own food and made many of the items they used in daily living. They passed on to me their deep respect for the functional handmade object.

To make my pottery, I use the potterโ€™s wheel, a slab roller and and extruder. I use a white stoneware clay. All my work is fired to Cone 6 in an electric kiln and is food, dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.

Bio from Ryan Durbin

Hi, my name is Ryan Durbin. I am the owner and maker for RD Ceramics. I began my exploration into creating functional pottery in 2007 during high school in Louisville, KY. I am a full-time website developer in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, but always have enjoyed focusing on creating practical & functional artwork in my spare time.

I have continued to improve and experiment within the clay medium ever since my start in 2007 by learning at various local clay studios and studying ceramics at Northern Kentucky University as an undergrad. After learning and experimenting with various techniques in hand-building, wheel-throwing, and firing methods from multiple mentors, I decided it was time to start selling my artwork in 2015 so others can enjoy and appreciate these unique pieces for years to come.

My work is designed to be simple, lightweight, comfortable, and appealing to the eye with my various selection of colorful glazes. I enjoy making everyday dishes, such as mugs, cups, bowls, oil bottles, and spoon rests. My pottery is primarily wheel-thrown, created with white or speckled stoneware clay, and is all food, dishwasher, & microwave safe. I fire my work in an electric kiln to cone 6 (around 2232 degrees Fahrenheit) in an oxidation atmosphere. I also co-host a podcast with my friend Becca Otis called Wheel Talk where we discuss life as a potter, small business owner, and interview other creative peers who are also growing their small businesses.
